Security consulting: France's civil aviation authority, the DGAC , calls on Steria to study the impact of RFID technology and biometrics on airport access control
In concrete terms – and in the scope of the increased safety measures applied in airports since September 11, 2001 – the research conducted by the Group in association with the French government has resulted in:
- the mapping of existing systems in the different airports;
- the definition of methods for migrating these operating systems to RFID or biometrics;
- and the measurement of the economic and operating impact of the process.
This new endeavour is yet another example of Steria's expertise in security and airport management. Steria has previously developed tailored solutions for airports in Frankfurt, Geneva, London, Paris (Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports), Rome, Bristol, Lyon, Mulhouse, Nantes and Nice. In Asia, Steria works for Canton and Jakarta airports and the Singapore civil aviation authority. In terms of security, the Group has more than twenty years of experience in rolling out large-scale, high security projects for both companies and European public authorities. To do this, Steria draws on its end-to-end service offer (consulting, systems integration and managed services), its application of a risk-based strategy – which accounts not only for the technological scale of the project, but also for human, organisational, environmental and legal aspects – and on its European network of several hundred specialist consultants and engineers, whose expertise is consolidated via skill centres in various countries: France (security consulting and risk control, identity management, e-government and RFID), Germany (single sign-on (SSO) and biometrics), Belgium (biometrics – recognition and secure transmission of fingerprints – and secure data transmission – electronic ID cards and electronic voting), Spain (e-government – portals, ERP, biometrics), Norway (secure infrastructures and biometrics – Steria FIT (Fingerprint Image Transmission) solution) and Sweden (the Secure Office offer, comprising innovative packaged solutions for SSO, PKI signature, VPN, etc.).
