Integration of eID

Steria has developed different kind of solutions in order to ease the use of eID cards in various environments. All these tools are handled in a project mode depending of the needs and environment of our customers. This section will present them briefly.

Always great IT jobs and vacancies with Steria

1. Physical identification

As an official State paper, the eID is used as usual to identify physically people with information written on the card body.

2. Data Capture

In addition to X509 certificates, the chip of the eID card contains "authentic" data relative to the card's holder, like the name, the last name, the address or the photo. These information may be retrieved by an automatic process in order to display the card holder's information or to use them for the provisioning of specific applications.

3. Authentication & authorization solutions

The eID card is a useful mean for a user to identify himself on websites. Steria has developed strong partnership with different vendors in this domain and proposes a set of solutions to secure the access of websites using the Belgian eID card.

Sometimes the information contained in the eID certificates are not sufficient to connect to some web sites. Steria proposes a set of solutions to allow anyway the use of the eID card in those environments.

4. Electronic signature tools

The eID card allows its owner to digitally sign electronic documents. This signature has the same legal value as the handwritten one. The electronic signature might be on-line or off-line.

By on-line signature we mean that documents are signed and sent directly to the sender through a network connection.
By off-line signature, we mean that the signed documents are stored locally on a machine before being sent (by email for instance).

In each case, the signature might be verified through the use of CRLs or an OCSP responder.
